CHRIS Davies has a decision to make in the next few days over Kanya Fujimoto’s fitness.
The Blues boss is faced with a weekend dilemma over the playmaker’s involvement.
A fixture change – the Under-21s clash against Derby has been moved to this Saturday from Friday – has left Davies with a conundrum to solve.
Fujimoto is working his way back from a niggling knee complaint and has yet to make an appearance for the first team.
The Bosman signing from Gil Vicente was included in the two squads last week – the one that faced Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup and he was also sat on the bench for the dramatic 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
But he has only featured in a game against West Brom’s Under-21s so far and his game time has been limited.
Davies has the ideal opportunity to blood the 26-year-old next Tuesday for the visit of Port Vale to St Andrew’s in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup.
But he faces a choice over whether to involve Fujimoto in the Under-21s again – Blues face Derby County at the Rams’ Moor Farm base on Saturday lunchtime.
That should give him the necessary run-out to get up to speed – or Davies can again take the decision to leave him on the bench for the Championship fixture against Oxford.
If he fails to give the free transfer any minutes, it is unlikely he will feature from the start against Darren Moore’s men.
But with the international break coming up, Davies is likely to want to offer Fujimoto some minutes on the pitch before the fortnight’s break which may mean him turning out for the Under-21s.
