Kurtis Havenhand, Blues under-21s striker, has left the club.

Blues decided not to take up the option on the contract he signed when joining, in early February.

Havenhand spent a trial period with Blues after leaving Sheffield United and did sufficiently well to earn a deal.

After sustaining an ankle injury in the final game of the campaign, Havenhand underwent rehabilitation over the summer and was then offered a short term contract to take him through pre-season and this month.

The 19-year-old has now departed and is seeking opportunities elsewhere.

Havenhand came through the ranks at Sheffield and signed as a professional for the Blades after missing the entire 2023/24 season due to an ACL injury.

Blues Under-21s return to action on Friday at the Knighthead Performance Centre, where Newcastle United are the visitors in PL2 (kick-off 2pm).

Mark Kennedy’s side have got off to a good start to the campaign.

They drew 2-2 against Stoke City Under-21s in their league opener at Stratford Town, Frank Tattum and Zaid Betteka (penalty) scoring.

Then last week came a comprehensive 3-0 defeat of Derby County Under-21s at Moor Farm.

Tattum’s reverse pass played in Briar Bateman to smash the opener, before Trae Briscoe popped up at the back post to turn in Daniel Isichei’s cross.

Tattum rounded off the scoring in the second-half, following up his own shot that was parried and looped up for him to nod goalwards.

Isichei became the latest Academy graduate to be called up for first team duty. He made the bench for the Carabao Cup tie against Port Vale on Tuesday, although was an unused substitute.

Betteka, meanwhile, has been ruled out of action for four to five weeks, due to a shoulder injury sustained in training.
