Tom Wagner gave a dressing room pep talk after Blues last match.

The Blues chairman addressed the players in the wake of the 1-1 draw at Wrexham.

Blues got back into the game thanks to Patrick Roberts goal 20 seconds after the break, and that sparked a much-improved second period.

Wagner, who watched the match from the terraces with Blues fans at the Stok Cas Rae, went into the dressing room after the final whistle to let the players know he appreciated their efforts

Wagner had earlier rallied the travelling support at half-time as Blues trailed to George Dobson’s 13th minute goal.

He was caught on camera telling the 1,200 fans that they needed to make more noise and bring energy to Chris Davies side.

It was described as ‘cringe’ on social media by supporters of other clubs – but was generally well-received by those in his midst – and not all because he footed a bar bill for them.

He felt compelled to do likewise afterwards, also spelling out to the players that they were capable of climbing the Championship.

It’s not an unusual step for the New York financier.

Blues are used to his and minority backer Tom Brady’s presence and such informal interactions when they are over from the US, especially at the training ground.

Wagner had also firmly scotched any reports that boss Davies was under pressure, in a pre-match interview.

He said: “Chris has the complete and total confidence of the board – period. Full stop.

“We are focused on process and I am confident the process he is pursuing will pay dividends and we will be competitors.”

Wagner also said that Blues were “still finding their feet” after promotion and that the season “doesn’t really get started until it gets dark and cold, and we are moving into that time of year”.

“You can’t be too focused about where you’re sitting in the table in October,” he added.

Although owners going into the hallowed sanctum of a dressing room is usually frowned upon, Wagner wanted to deliver a rallying cry as Davies’s side picked up the first point on their travels in four matches.
