Marvin Ducksch has been charged with drink driving after a three-vehicle crash on Easter Monday.
He will appear before magistrates in Leamington on May 20.
The striker was arrested at the scene of the incident, on the A3400 near Henley-in-Arden, close to Blues training ground.
Earlier that day Ducksch, who has been capped twice by Germany, played for Blues as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town.
Ducksch is Blues current top-scorer, having registered 11 goals this season since his high profile summer move from Werder Bremen.
A statement from Warwickshire Police said: “A 32-year-old man from Solihull has been charged with drink driving following a collision near Henley-in-Arden.
“At around 10.30pm on Monday, 6 April, officers attended a report of a three-vehicle collision on the A3400.
“Marvin Ducksch was arrested and was yesterday, 13 April, and charged with drink driving.
“He has been bailed to appear before Warwickshire Magistrates in Leamington on Wednesday, 20 May.”
Ducksch was left out of Blues squad for their game against Wrexham on Sunday, which they won 2-0.
Manager Chris Davies explained that his absence was down to an ‘internal matter’ that the club were dealing with.
Blues released a statement confirming the development.
It said: “The club can confirm that Marvin Ducksch has been charged in relation to an offence of driving with excess alcohol.
“Marvin wishes to apologise to his teammates, staff and supporters of the club and accepts full responsibility for his actions. The matter has been dealt with internally and no further comment will be made at this time.”
