courtesy of Bcfc.com - Blues new signing Lewis Koumas gets familiar with his surroundings

Blues have completed the loan signing of Liverpool forward Lewis Koumas.

The 19-year-old Wales international moves to St. Andrew’s for the season.

It is believed the deal for Koumas is not with a view to a permanent transfer at this stage.

The addition of Koumas will provide manager Chris Davies with extra options in the wide areas. Koumas can play on either flank or as a withdrawn striker.

A quick, sharp and direct ball-carrier, Koumas opted to join Blues despite several other options, understood to have included Sheffield United, Wrexham, Norwich City and Hull City.

He spent last season loan at Stoke City and made 49 appearances, scoring six times and making six assists.

Koumas has made a solitary competitive appearance for the Reds, when he scored on his debut in the FA Cup win over Southampton in February last year.

After being used sparingly in pre-season it became clear that Koumas needed to move to gain regular action – and Blues had him as a favoured option on their radar.

Koumas is the son of former West Browmich Albion playmaker Jason Koumas and has been capped six times by Wales.

It brings to 10 the number of signings Blues have made this summer transfer window.

Phil Nuemann officially joined on a Bosman on July 1, after Blues announced that the loans of Taylor Gardner-Hickman and Alfons Sampsted had been made permanent.

Demarai Gray, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Kyogo Furuhashi, Kanya Fujimoto, Marvin Ducksch were all permanent additions, while James Beadle, Tommy Doyle, Eiran Cashin – and now Koumas – have all been loaned in.
