Blues have made Jhon Solis their second signing of the January transfer window.

The powerful Colombian midfielder has moved from Spanish side Girona on loan until the season’s end.

Solis, 21, joins German left-back Kai Wagner in the Blues ranks after his switch from Philadelphia Union of the MLS.

Solis began his career in Colombia with Atlético Nacional where he helped the side win the Apertura in 2022 and the Superliga in 2023.

He moved to Girona in September 2003 via Manchester City’s City Football Group for around €6 million and made 22 appearances in his debut season as they finished third in La Liga.

Solis has Champions League experience with Girona and appeared 12 times this campaign for them, but only made three starts.

Blues manager Chris Davies is banking on his imposing frame, ball-winning and ground-covering capabilities adding something different to his midfield.

Neither club has yet confirmed whether the transfer is with a view to a permanent deal.
