Blues have made a significant signing in Danish under-21 international striker August Priske.

They have shelled out around £6 million to capture the frontman, who enjoyed a breakout season in 2025 in Sweden.

Priske top-scored in the Allsvenskan with 18 goals from 27 appearances for Djurgardens IF.

That brought a stack of clubs to the table, but Blues opted to take the plunge and have handed Priske a five-and-a-half-year contract.

Priske, who stands 6ft 4in tall, is not the finished article but an emerging talent.

Blues feel there is a considerable upside to the 21-year-old, but also believe he can make an impact in the here and now.

Priske, son of former Portsmouth defender Brian Priske, arrives with a reputation as a penalty box finisher rather than a link man or target man. His runs into dangerous areas are a strength and he has shown a range of finishing with both feet and head while in Sweden.

He is likely to take some adjusting to the physicality of the Championship as, despite his size, he was not noted for an imposing mano a mano style of centre-forward play in Sweden.

Priske began his career with spells at FC Midtjylland and FC Copenhagen before moving to PSV Eindhoven’s reserve team on loan.

After a return to FC Midtjylland, he was loaned to Holland again, to FC Eindhoven, for the 2023/24 season.

He was transferred to Djurgardens IF in August 2024, where his career really began to take off.

Priske featured prominently in the UEFA Conference League as Djurgardens IF reached the semi-finals in 2025 where they were eventually beaten by Chelsea.

Priske becomes Blues fourth signing of the January transfer window, after Kai Wagner, Jhon Solis and Ibrahim Osman.
